    It should look like this:

Would it be better to measure it at the XO point?

Thats the beauty of using a pulse, It covers all freqs.
    So your XO could be : 500Hz, 1500Hz, 3000Hz , or anything in-between.

    The link didn't work.
I put a 1k sine wave through lf/hf drivers and measured the output with a mic. I then played with the delay; both HF and LF. Any delay decreased the signal received by the mic. Seems like they are pretty well aligned.

Yeah, Altec did a pretty good job with all the constraints they had to deal with and why I don't understand what's going on with OG's 4 ms.

Anyway, WRT attaining a good time and phase coherence, this may be of interest: Phase and Time align subs with main speakers - diyAudio

    and why I don't understand what's going on with OG's 4 ms.
Was the 4 ms reference measured?

    How would we measure it?

I wonder if 4ms is simply a reference to the printed scale for the adjustment pot on an analog device.

FWIW, i have an analog network with delay in the HF filters, but it's 2ms max. I have always assumed that the scale HAS to allow for a certain degree of tolerance, maybe up to 10%, or could reality be even further away?
